“There is nothing nicer than a kitchen really made for a cook. Things that are designed to be used always have an innate beauty.” - Julia Child

Top Kitchen Trends:

  • It's official: The pantry is the new closet, and designers are all about creating these well organized, beautiful spaces that bring peace of mind to the owner. Whether you're an avid home cook in need of organization for all your gourmet ingredients, an oenophile looking for a wine cellar, or a large family in need of a command center, a well-appointed walk-in pantry just might be the answer to your household's prayers.

  • Ovens, Ovens, and More Ovens: If you want to bring your kitchen straight into today, you might want to consider updating one of your most prized appliances: your oven range. "Right now, induction ranges are a hot topic," shares Emily Henderson, a designer and stylist. "I'm actually getting one put in my new house, but I've been seeing them in more and more home reveals, which is so great. I'm so happy to see the design industry heading in this direction. You’ve undoubteldy seen some of the latest designer ovens featured in magazines - Italian beauties with fancy brass handles, or the latest “professional” looking stove tops with handles that come in red, orange and other fancy colors. Admittedly, upgrading your oven range is expensive—especially if you have your sights on an induction style. However, if you're working with a generous budget, this switch can be well worth the investment.

  • Color is King: According to Christopher Peacock, owner and CEO of his eponymous cabinet company in San Francisco, 2022 will usher in a brand-new palette. "Whether it is custom cabinetry or designing a complete living space, neutral tones paired with strong colors, like deep greens, rich reds, and blues, will continue to be a go-to color scheme for most," he shares. Not ready to repaint all your cabinets? Peacock has the perfect compromise. "Many of our clients still opt for neutral cabinetry colors in general, however take a color risk for their island cabinetry or in their butler's pantry," he advises. "It allows homeowners to keep most of their space very calm and relaxed, while simultaneously introducing a strong color element for a bit of interest."

  • Tall Drink of Water: Bold, full height backsplashes starting at the counter top and going up to the crown moldings are a stunning way to give visual interest and more layers to the kitchen.

  • Seeing Double: With the move towards larger kitchens, the kitchen island has become an essential feature, and double islands are twice as nice when space is not an issue, lending itself to more storage space and work space for family members.
